Jennie Malaley
Jennie Malaley was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Yuba County, California in 1914. She served in the office for at least two terms.  In Yuba County the Superintendent was also the ex officio City Superintendent of Schools for Marysville, with an additional salary. The City of Marysville refused to pay Malaley for her additional services as the city superintendent. She took the case to court and in 1918 the Court of Appeal of California for the Third District upheld a lower court ruling and that Malaley was due about $1,000 in back salary. Malaley won re-election in 1918, receiving more votes than her opponent Anna McKinney.
