In 1898 Harriet Goodrich Rosenkrans Wright won office as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives (also called the General Assembly), running as a Populist on a fusion ticket. She served two years. She also served for four and one-half years as a member of the Board of Control of the State Industrial School for Girls. In 1912 Wright was a Democratic nominee for State Senate. Wright, the mother of four sons, was active in political, philanthropic, and club work. She became the director of the Colorado Equal Suffrage Association and also served as president of the Woman's Press Association, writing sketches and stories, and contributing many articles to papers on suffrage matters.
