Elizabeth Nielson, a Republican, was elected as County Recorder of Beaver County, Utah in 1906. She was re-elected two years later. In 1918 she ran again for County Recorder, but lost to Democrat Electa Dorrity. By 1913 Nielson was working for the Utah Bureau of Immigration, Labor and Statistics, where she was instrumental in gaining rights for women workers. Throughout her career in politics, Nielson was active in the Republican party.
