Belle H. Meeks campaigned on the Prohibition ticket for State Superintendent of Public Instruction in Iowa in 1893. Meeks served as the corresponding secretary of the Iowa state Woman's Christian Temperance Union. In the early years of the twentieth century Mix attended the National Purity Convention.
