Blanche Lewis was the Democratic candidate for County Recorder of David County, Utah in 1912. She was elected to the position two years later, and again in 1916. Lewis was regarded as one of the best recorders Davis County had every had and was praised for her promptness, accuracy, and courtesy. She was described as having a mellow voice, keen intellect, and remarkable executive ability. Lewis served in elected and government offices for many years after 1920. Lewis had an accident as child, which left her with one shortened leg, but this did not affect her campaigning. Before her election to office, Lewis was one of the first telephone operators in the area. She was a long term activist with the Democratic party.
