Emily S. Lewis was a Democratic party candidate for the School Committee of the Thirty-fourth ward in Philadelphia in 1902. She was elected to the position in 1906. The same year Lewis received a patent for developing a holder for nursing bottles. Lewis ran for the office again in 1911.
