Templeton, Brevard

In 1909 Brevard Templeton was appointed to fill the remaining term of the County Treasurer of Ellis County, Texas. The following year she campaigned for the office and was elected to the office. She was the first woman in Ellis County, in an elected position. Templeton served as Treasurer consecutively for the next 53 years, through 1962.
