Cora B. Taylor was an Independent candidate for the Board of Education for Los Angeles, California in 1917. She was successful in the primary election, and ran a full campaign for the general election, speaking to women's groups, the parent-teachers association, and gained endorsements from leading male officials. However, Taylor lost coming in eighth in the race, where the top seven candidates were elected. From 1913 onward Taylor served as the president of the Parent-Teacher Federation.
