Tallent, Annie D.
Annie D. Tallent was elected County Superintendent of Public Schools in Pennington County, South Dakota. She served in this position in 1892-1893. Tallent was the first white woman to migrate to the Black Hills of the Dakota, living in the area with the group known as the Gordon party in 1874. She later served as one of the first teachers and wrote about her experiences.
