Rena Michaels Atchison was the dean of women at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois; and also at Albion College in Michigan. She ran for trustee of the Illinois State University in 1894. Atchinson was an active member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and the secretary of the Illinois State Equal Suffrage Association. She was the author of Un-American Immigration: Its Present Effects and Future Perils : a Study from the Census of 1890, Kerr, 1894.
