Ada Smith Lang
Ada Smith Lang was nominated by the Socialist party as a candidate for the House of Delegates from the second legislative district of Baltimore, Maryland in 1909. The city supervisor of elections decided that Lang's name should not appear on the ballot that fall. However, Judge Stockbridge of the Baltimore City court later ruled that  her name should appear. Qualifications for Delegates in Maryland did not require candidates to be male or electors.
