In 1911 Laura N. Platt was a Keystone party candidate for School Visitor for the seventh ward of Philadelphia. Platt worked on children's issues as part of the Pennsylvania Child Labor Committee. She served as the chairman of the Trade Schools for Girls committee of the city's Civic Club. Platt was interested in providing safe working conditions for women workers which paid wages to keep them out of prostitution. She served as president of the Pennsylvania Association of Women Workers.
