Ethel Cushing
In 1897 Ethel Cushing was an Independent candidate for School Director of the fifth ward school committee in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She did not win the race. Cushing had been named by the Civic Club as a potential candidate for the office in 1895. Cushing served as an officer of St. Peter's House, a religious settlement house in the city.
