Clarissa F. Dye
In 1883 Clarissa F. Dye was nominated by the Independent Republicans for School Director of the first ward school committee in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dye is known for the memoir she published abut her work as a volunteer nurse for the Union during the Civil War. After the war Dye served as the president of the National Association of Army Nurses of the Civil War.
