Clara Ruddell was elected County Superintendent of Schools for Custer County, Oklahoma in 1897. She probably served for only one term as she was listed as being a salesman of dry goods in the 1900 federal census.
Alice V. Beitman of Oklahoma County was one of the first women in the area to be elected as County Superintendent of Schools. She won her campaign in 1897 and served for at least one term.
