Evangeline G. Tefft, a Republican, was elected as a School Commissioner for Saginaw County, Michigan in 1919. Although Tefft was elected in her own right, she was elected to complete the term of her husband, Burton S. Tefft, who had died in a car accident the previous year. Evangeline resigned as school commissioner in 1921 to become the Supervisor of Attendance for the Detroit Board of Education. Tefft later served as principal of the County Normal school at Onaway, Michigan.
