Amanda Pusey was the Republican candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Whitman County, Washington in 1886. She lost to her Democratic opponent by just twenty-two votes. Pusey's husband Virgil was elected as County Superintendent of King's County two years later, and later was elected to the state senate.
