Carpenter, Mary P.

Mary P. Carpenter was elected as County Superintendent of Schools for Whatcom County, Washington in 1906. She was the first woman in the county elected to the position. Before her election Carpenter was the principal of a local school. She was also an outspoken supporter of suffrage and a member of area women's clubs.
