Mary F. Houston was the Democratic candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Gallatin County, Montana in 1886. She won the race, beating the independent incumbent Adda Hamilton. Houston ran for re-election in 1888 and won a second term. She also won her race in 1889 and served until 1892.
