From collection Candidates
Elizabeth R. Flagler, the Republican candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Chouteau County, Montana in 1898. She ran unopposed. Flagler ran for re-election in 1900, but was not endorsed by the Republicans. She was somewhat contraversial in the county, having fired a teacher and removed many names of families from the list of residents eligible for schooling. In 1900 Flagler declared herself a candidate without party endorsement and was listed as an Independent and on the Peoples party ticket. She lost to May Flanagan.
