From collection Candidates
Olive Clift was the Citizens party candidate for Town Treasurer for New Castle, Garfield County, Colorado in 1898. She was the sole candidate for the office in the race, and was re-elected the following year. In 1900 Clift ran again, this time on the Non-partisan Citizens ticket, against a Citizens party opponent. Clift was re-elected in 1903, along with the entire Non-Partisan Citizens party ticket. She had been involved in populist politics from the mid 1890s onward. By 1919 Clift served as one of the School Directors for New Castle schools.
