Zela M. Murphy was elected County Treasurer of Big Horn County, Wyoming and served from 1909 to 1914, serving two terms. In 1914 Murphy was elected County Clerk of Big Horn and served in the position until at least 1918. She was elected to another term in 1918, winning against Republican Edith C. Scott.
