Mary Shank (or Shanks) was the Bimetallic party candidate for City Treasurer of Ouray, Ouray County, Colorado in 1896. It is unclear if Shanks won that race, but she was elected to the office in 1899 endorsed by the Citizens party and the Peoples party. Shank ran again for the office in 1901 and 1903, both times on the Citizens party ticket. In 1903 she was also endorsed by the Tax Payer's party. By1905 Shank was running as a Democrat and was unopposed in the race. The Democrats nominated Shank again two years later, and she was also endorsed by the Citizens party. Shank ran again on the Democratic ticket in 1909. In what may have been her last race for the office Shank ran in 1911 on the Citizens and Republican tickets.
