Edith Halcomb was the Socialist Party candidate for the Colorado Third Congressional District in 1918. She lost to the Republican candidate in the race. Born in Ohio as Edith Barber, she moved to Oklahoma Territory before 1900. After 1906 Barber set up a medical practice in the state. She had gained a medical degree from a school probably in Missouri. In 1910 Barber married another physician, Ambrose Halcomb and the couple moved to Los Angeles, California. Edith worked there as a medical examiner. In Oklahoma and later on in California, Edith Halcomb worked with state and local suffrage organizations.
