Anna L. Mapes was the Democratic candidate for City Treasurer in Kansas City, Kansas in 1899. She was also the candidate of the Peoples Party that year. Mapes lost to the Republican candidate. She campaigned for the Democratic nomination again for the office 1907. She lost the nomination to Avis B. Chadborn. Mapes ran a popular dancing school in the 1890s. By 1900 she had also established a millinery business which was destroyed in a fire.
