From collection Candidates
Kate Adams was elected as the City Clerk of Lakeside, Jefferson County, Colorado, some time before 1909. Adams was also elected as a Town Trustee, similar to a town council member or alderman, in 1907, and in 1908. The following year she ran again, one of five women, as a Republican candidate, but the voters selected the Citizens ticket and defeated all Republicans. As wife to the town mayor, Adams was part of the local political elite, contributing her efforts to establishing the Lakeside amusement resort, women's clubs and other institutions.
