From collection Candidates
Lavinia C. Northcott was the Fusion candidate for County Treasurer in Washington County, Colorado in 1899. She did not win that race. Some time before 1910 Northcott was widowed and moved to California to be near her daughters. In 1912 Northcott was elected City Clerk of El Centro, Imperial County, California. She was one of only a handful of women who served in non-educational offices across the state in the year after suffrage was passed.
