Florence A. Dunham was an independent candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Imperial County, California in 1910. Dunham was supported by a coalition of women's groups including the local Woman's Christian Temperance Union group, the Ladies Improvement Club, and the Congregational Ladies Aid. Dunham's candidacy was one under the new California Primary Law (of 1909), which pushed women candidates to running as independents. Dunham was an long standing educator in the area. By 1918 Dunham was the president of the Imperial County Board of Education.
