Jennie Smith was elected as a School Director for Sheffield, Calendonia County, Vermont in 1907. She was still in the position in 1913. Her husband William J. Smith, a local farmer, served as the Town Clerk. Jennie Smith was also a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of Caledonia County.
