Clara Larrson was elected Mayor of Troutdale, Oregon in 1913. She served from 1914 to 1918. It was reported that she received more than five times the number of votes as her opponent. During her term as Mayor Larrson helped close the saloons in Troutdale, despite her husband's success saloon. Before and after her term as Mayor, Larrson continued working in civic affairs. She served on the city council, on the school board, as teacher, and helped found a local library. Larrson's grandmother Betsy White Wing Ough was the daughter of the chieftan family of Chinook Indians from the local Cascades communities.
