Adelaide A. Claflin was elected to the School Board of Quncy, Massachusetts in 1884, and served until 1887. Claflin was interested in the education of women. She served on the executive committee of the Massachusetts Woman Suffrage Association and lectured on the subject. Claflin was also involved in several Boston women's clubs. In the 1890s she became an Unitarian ordained minister, after studying at the Meadville Theological School.
