Anna Bond, the Republican candidate, was elected County Superintendent of Schools in Ravalli County, Montana in 1894. She ran for a second term in 1896, but was defeated by Kittie Ostermeyer, the Populist candidate. Anna Bond succeeded her father, Joel J. Bond in the office. Joel Bond, a Populist, had been the first County Superintendent when the county was created in 1893.

Angie Bean of Asotin County, Washington was appointed as County Superintendent of Schools in 1884.  In the next election, held a few months later, she was elected with seventy percent of the votes cast. Bean had been one of the first teachers in the county.
