Myra Ingalsbe was elected to be a School Commissioner in Washington County, New York in 1893, 1896, 1899, 1902, 1905, and 1908. At the end of her last term, she was appointed to be a district superintendent, a position she held until 1916. She was reappointed at this point, but died a few weeks into her second term. Ingalsbe was the Vice President of the State Association of District Superintendents and of the State Teachers Association. She was a member of the New York State Historical Association. She had been educated at the State Normal School.
