Winifred Thomas
Winifred Thomas was elected to the Seattle, Washington School Board in 1895. She was the first woman on the board and served for one year. Thomas was one of the candidates in the race of the American Protective Association, an anti-Catholic Church organization. A newspaper article claimed that a large number of women voters turned out to vote for the APA candidates.
