Laura Cravens ran for the office of County Superintendent of Schools for Lexington, Kentucky in 1893. She was a school teacher in the area. Cravens, and her sister Frances Cravens published The Public School Monthly magazine, and published at least one book together. The book was a biography of Henry Clay for younger readers.
