Mary N. Oates, a Republican, was elected County Superintendent of Schools for Mineral County, Colorado, in 1914, 1916, and 1918. In 1916 she ran unopposed. She was born in England circa 1865 and immigrated to the United States in the 1880s. Oates died in 1954 at the age of 89.
