In 1912 Jessie Magee was the Democratic candidate for County Superintendent of Schools for Kit Carson County, Colorado. She lost that race to the Republican incumbent Jennie L. Tressel. Four years later Magee ran again for the office and defeated the Republican candidate, Ida M. Casady. Magee lived in Burlington. She was single at the time of her first election but married in August of 1917. Magee was elected again in 1918 and 1920 under the name of Jessie C. Magee Gray. She was born in 1887 and died in 1971.
