In 1916 Doris N. Unfug, a Republican, campaigned unsuccessfully for the office of Huerfano County, Colorado County Superintendent of Schools. She lost to the Democratic candidate, Martha Thorne, who then served the 1917-1918 term of office. Unfug was born in Colorado. She was married with five children. Unfug may have run again in 1918.
