In 1916 Bessie Weber, a Republican, campaigned unsuccessfully for the office of Garfield County, Colorado County Superintendent of Schools. She had hoped to hold this office for the 1917-1918 term. She lost to Mrs. Tippett Westerman, a Democrat.
