Mamie H. Exline, the Republican candidate, was elected County Superintendent of Schools in Prowers County, Colorado in 1899. She served for one term. Exline ran for re-election in 1901, but had been abandoned by the Republican party. Instead she ran the Peoples Party ticket, but did not win the race. Exline ran one more time, "on various tickets," including the Democratic, in 1904. An appeal to the women voters of Pitkin party was part of her campaign in 1904.
