Hattie Ham from Oswego, served as County Superintendent of Schools of Labette, Kansas. In 1896, she beat Mrs. Minnie Wells, Miss Mary Walker, W. B. Covalt, John Jones, E. L. McKnight and A. W. Potter to secure the post. She continued to serve as the Superintendent till 1898 when Annie S. Arnold took over.
