Fannie Horowitz
Fannie Horowitz campaigned on the socialist ticket in the 1st district of New York for the position of Justice of the Supreme Court in 1918. Horowitz had an extensive background working in the judicial system. As an attorney, she represented the arrested strikers of Women's Trade Union League in the magistrate's court. Horowitz was also active member of the Communist Party and acted as Secretary of the National Leftwing Conference of New York City in 1919. While she is recognized as one of the Founding Members of the Communist Party of America, Horowitz was caught in the middle of a split within the newly formed Communist Party. Along with other members of the Emergency Committee, she resigned on the second day of the party's founding convention.
