Julia C. Ferris was elected school commissioner for Auburn, New York some time before 1915. She continued to serve on the school board until her death in 1928. Ferris had been a teacher in the Auburn area for many years. She was a suffrage supporter and later affiliated with the League of Women Voters and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
