Elizabeth Gleason, a Democrat, was Clear Creek, Colorado County Superintendent of Schools for 6 successive terms, or 12 years after being first elected in 1914. She ran successfully in 1916 against a Republican, L. H. Mortensen, and another Democrat, F. T. Christensen. In 1918 she was again successful in winning the position, and continued to win in the 1920s.
She was born in Wales and came to the United States in 1889, living nearly all of her life in Idaho Springs, Colorado. She married and in an unknown year, divorced.
