In 1916 Ina Coleman ran in Multnomah County for the Oregon House of Representatives. She campaigned as a Socialist, and lost. Coleman was a representative to the Oregon Congress of Mothers. She was an outspoken opponent of World War I, and participated in a debate before the Portland School Board on military training in schools.
