Angela Rose Canfield was elected mayor of Warren, Illinois in 1915. Canfield was the first woman in Illinois to hold the office of mayor. She served one term. During the Civil War Canfield served as the superintendent of the U.S. Army messhouse in Nashville, Tennessee. After the war she worked the Pinkerton detective agency.
