Lillian Ostrander was elected to be a School Commissioner in Steuben County, New York in 1899. In 1914, she coauthored a book called the Standard Question Book and Home Study Outlines, that contained questions about history, literature, and geography whose answers could be found in The Standard Dictionary of Facts.
