Rose W. Ridgway, a Democrat, was the County Superintendent of Schools in Chafee County, Colorado, elected in 1914, 1916, 1918, and 1920. The November 13, 1914 Salida Mail newspaper lists Ridgway as receiving 2176 votes to win. In the 1916 election she defeated the Republican candidate, George Oliver.
She was born in Kansas in 1872. In 1909 the City Directory of Salida County, Colorado listed her as a seventh grade teacher. She also served as principal of the Central School in Colorado. She was a member of the DAR and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was described as prominent in club work. The 1920 U.S. Census lists her as widowed.
