Gertie Thompson was elected to the Town School Committee for Hampton, Connecticut in 1909. She served as Secretary of the Committee that year. Thompson continued to serve on the School Committee well into the middle of the next century, and was listed on the school board as of 1950. Thompson was a Democratic candidate for the Connecticut State House of Representatives in 1920.
