Sarah West Marshall
Sarah West Marshall was elected to the School Board of Lexington, Kentucky in 1895. She was one of four women elected that year, and among the first women to gain political office. Marshall was a member of the Kentucky state Woman's Christian Temperance Union and served as a corresponding secretary in the late 1890s. In the early twentieth century she was an Inspector of Dormitories for the state university in Kentucky.
